Island Dyes began in 1987. Originally, Island Dyes retailed Outer Banks tye-dyed t-shirts along with a few beach and Outer Banks souvenir items, while providing wholesale tye-dyed t-shirts to many of the local screen printers. Over their years on the Outer Banks, the shop grew and began adding more and more items as they listened to what their customers wanted. Tobacco pipes and accessories, body jewelry and Outer Banks piercings are now the primary items and services today’s visitors are requesting, and Island Dyes have evolved with them.
