Barrier Island Eco-Tours offers the only 4 Wheel Drive Monster Off-Road Bus on the Outer Banks which enables them to offer inexpensive tours of the off road area north of Corolla. We offer four tours daily for up to 34 passengers. Our tour times are 7am, 10am, 2pm and 5pm. Enjoy the beautiful northern beaches as you ride through the petrified forest, see the old life saving station and see dozens of species of birds. Of course the stars of the attractions are the wild mustangs of Corolla that now roam free north of Corolla. These beautiful animals were moved above Corolla into the 4wd area after several were injured through the years as Corolla become more developed. Now you can see them in a natural setting as they roam the beaches. Our local guides generally know where they will be and always makes a special effort to find them. Then Northern beaches offer great shelling opportunities as well as incredible views of the ocean and many animals in their natural settings. Barrier Island Eco Tours office is located in Timbuck II Shopping Village above Karichele Realty. We can pick up large groups or you can meet us in Timbuck II at the times above. We depart on the half hour. Our tour lasts approximately 2.5 hours and is driven and narrated by local guides with extensive knowledge of the area, wildlife and its history. Because we can accommodate up to 34 passengers at a time we minimize our impact on the area, while making it more accessible to the public. Come take a ride with us and see nature at its pristine best.
